Every year, the
Sagamore Hills Elementary School PTA sponsors the following programs that enrich the lives and education of our children. These activities are funded and supported by the PTA with the generous assistance from staff and teacher volunteers as well.
PTA Enrichment Events
Family Dinner Night An event for families to enjoy a casual meal together at the school. Volunteers help plan the event and menu.
Talent Show Volunteers help plan and supervise the talent show.
Book Fair Volunteers help set up book displays and assist students in selecting/buying books.
Movie Night Volunteers coordinate a movie and concessions.
Math Club Volunteers help students prepare for the Math Tournament.
STEM Night Volunteers help plan and set up for this event. Also need volunteers to help with exhibits during the event.
A theatrical event for 4th & 5th-graders to perform onstage. Work with a musical director to plan and coordinate all aspects of the event, from auditions through final production.
Spring (AR) Carnival
Reward children for reading accomplishments. Volunteers help plan and work at various booths.
Event where the students dance the night away. Volunteers help plan and supervise the event.
Science Olympiad Volunteers help students prepare for the Science Olympiad competition which is held in the spring.
Art Show Volunteers work with the Art teacher to organize and display student artwork at an evening event.
Ongoing PTA Enrichment
Math Fact Mountains Ongoing all year in classrooms. Students have the opportunity to practice math facts, and receive recognition for completing worksheets within certain time. Need volunteer(s) to promote this opportunity.
Math Stars Students have the opportunity to practice math facts, and receive recognition for completing worksheets within certain time. Need volunteer(s) to promote this opportunity.
Junior Great Books A voluntary program that allows 1st – 5th graders to begin the process of critical analysis and discussion of literature. Volunteers are trained to lead small groups of students in discussions twice a month.
Reflections A national PTA art event that encourages students to create art expression reflecting a given theme. Volunteers help to promote and organize the event.
Schedule cultural events (such as music, art, drama, and dance) throughout the school year, including field trips as well as performances at the school. Volunteers help schedule and coordinate events.
Volunteers work with students to improve their math skills. Volunteers are needed from 7:00 am to 7:30 am on certain mornings throughout the school year.
Media Center Support
Create displays on bulletin boards and doors to promote literacy themes.
Work with a musical director to plan and coordinate the musical concerts.
Identify needs and provide education to staff and students about students’ special needs, such as special education and medical issues.
Summer Enrichment Help promote summer reading programs and summer reading lists and help encourage math fact mountains practice.
